WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH GENDER
MAINSTREAMING

To
truly understand what women empowerment is, there needs
to be a sea-change in the mindset
of
the people in the country.
Not just the women themselves, but the men have to wake up
to a world that is moving towards equality
and
equity. It is
better that this is embraced earlier than later.
"Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra Devata, yatraitaastu na
pujyante sarvaastatrafalaah kriyaah"
-Manu

Meaning : Where women are honoured, there the gods are pleased;
where they are not honoured, all works become fruitless.
"There is no chance
of
the welfare
of
the world unless the condition
of
women
is
improved.
It
is not possible for a bird to fly
on
one wing", said
Swami Vivekananda, one
of
the greatest patriotic and inspiring saints.
Prakriti and Purusha together make the complete entity
of
the creation
of
the whole universe. Lord Shiva himself sometimes is depicted in his
Aradhnarishwara swaroop to give the same message to the world. Lord
himself is incomplete without the power
of
Shakti. Our Vedanta says that
one and the same consciousness is present in all beings. Then why she has
been humiliated and denigrated on the front and behind the veils since
ages? India is a land which is famous for celebrating the festival
of
Maa
Durga,
celebrating
the
power
of
Shakti
itself,
then
why
so
much
discrimination is made between men and women not only in our society or
nation but world over:
Writers and poets try to understand the truth about
woman. But until this day they have never understood
her heart because, looking upon her through the veil
of
desire, they see nothing except the shape
of
her body.
Or they look upon her through a magnifying glass
of
spite and find nothing in her but weakness and submission.
