Abstract
The Speaker of Lok Sabha in India is regarded as the most important office of
legislative functioning. The office of the Speaker is regarded with high esteem and
respect in the Parliament. The election of the Lok Sabha Speaker in India carries
with it a unanimous trust of different parties in one chair. The Speaker of the
United States House of Representatives is regarded as the presiding officer of the
popular chamber there. The Speaker is simultaneously House’s presiding officer
and the institution’s administrative head but he/she is also the parliamentary leader
of the House of Representatives. This article attempts to understand the election
and overall working of the Speaker’s office. This article further explores judicial
