Editorial Note
Articles in this issue of Studies in Indian Politics (3.1) focus on the 16th elections to India’s Lok Sabha
(April–May 2014). The importance of these elections can hardly be exaggerated. In the last issue (2.2)
itself, we had some discussion of these elections (Chibber-Ostermann, Sudha Pai, Kailash and Yatindra
Singh Sisodia). Christophe Jaffrelot, who is also a member of the Editorial Board of this journal, has
guest-edited the ‘Articles’ section on India’s 2014 elections in this issue. We are sure that many scholarly
analyses of these elections would be forthcoming in the time to come. We hope to publish more analyses
on different aspects of these elections in coming issues of Studies in Indian Politics. While this issue also
includes the regular sections such as Book Reviews, Notes on Methods and discussion of Teaching-
Learning Political Science in India, the section containing the main articles is edited by Christophe
Jaffrelot. His introduction explains the context of these articles. We thank Christophe Jaffrelot and his
colleagues for contributing to this issue.
