Whereas, the draft of the following rules further to amend the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which the Government of Karnataka propose to make in exercise of the powers conferred by Sections 65 and 211 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988), was published as required in Section 212(1) of the said Act, in Notification No. SARIE 243 SAEPA 2009, dated 5th December, 2009, in Part IV-A of the Karnataka Gazette, Extraordinary No. 1154, dated 7-12-2009, inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby within thirty days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

And whereas, the said Gazette was made available to the public on 7th December, 2009.

And whereas, the objections and suggestions received by the State Government were considered.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Sections 65 and 211 read with Section 212 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988), the Government of Karnataka hereby make the following rules, namely:-

1. Title and commencement:-

(1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2009.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment to Rule 46-A:-

In Rule 46-A of the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the 'said rules'):-
