Kolkata: It's final. Gopal Krishna Gandhi, the governor of West Bengal, has made it clear to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that he will definitely not stay on in the state for a second term.

Though Trinamool Congress chief and Railways Minister Mamata Banerjee is unhappy, the Left Front-which has never seen eye-to-eye with Gandhi-is heaving a sigh of relief. Gandhi and the ruling Left have never been friends from the day he took over as governor.
