Even as India takes ambitious strides in the diplomatic arena, the Foreign Office has been deluged with some very dirty linen. The uproar surrounding former External Affairs minister K. Natwar Singh's ignominious exit had barely died down when a slew of administrative cases left South Block officials red in the face.

A virtual war of words has ensued between Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran and Harish Dogra, a Secretary-level High Commissioner of the 1972 ifs batch who has been recalled as Indian envoy to New Zealand.
