Rains Claim One Life, Injure 2 [Ahmedabad]


AHMEDABAD: Heavy downpour all through Monday afternoon till late in the evening in Ahmedabad, resulted in major traffic snarls, uprooting trees on city roads and killing one child and injuring two others.

Prakash Thakor, 12, from Por in Gandhinagar died, when he took shelter under a banyan tree on Kundasan road after heavy downpour, a bolt fell on him, killing him instantly and injuring other two children, they are now admitted at civil hospital.

Continuous downpour completely threw traffic out of gear. Shabana Sheikh, a resident of Khanpur was left stranded in a major traffic jam at Panjrapole cross-roads. Sheikh said, "I had to wait for more than two hours in the traffic for an autorickshaw, as they refused to take passengers, the traffic was in complete chaos."

Major traffic snarl was also reported from the Income Tax cross junction, Ashram Road and other parts. Bhoomika Manchandya, a resident of Satellite had to cancel her preparation...
