The axis of terror may be expanding globally, but closer home it is deepening its base in Bangladesh, with the proliferation of training camps which churn out a lethal cocktail of anti-India jehadis and insurgents. This growth belies the Khaleda Zia Government's claims that Bangladesh is taking action against terrorist groups. What is more alarming is India shares a 4,096 km border with its eastern neighbour, with huge open patches that facilitate easy infiltration.

The situation in Bangladesh has forced India to work on a new security strategy for that country. In fact, Delhi is gearing itself to raise the issue when the home secretaries of the two countries meet in September. But the matter seems to be getting out of control with Dhaka refusing to acknowledge India's concerns.
