That India is sitting on a diabetes time bomb is a well established fact. But equally important, if not more, is the fact that the number of doctors who can help-endocrinologists-is staggeringly small.

Endocrinology is concerned with the study of the biosynthesis, storage, chemistry, and physiological function of hormones and with the cells of the endocrine glands and tissues that secrete them. Any problem with the secretion of the hormones can disrupt the body mechanism and can lead to various medical complications. Disruption can contribute to some of the major diseases, for example diabetes, thyroid conditions, pituitary conditions, sexual problems, neurological problems, appetite and obesity, bone problems, and even cancer.
