Summary
This study has been undertaken to examine the correlates of the Human Resource Development Climate (HRDC) dimensions in the engineering institutes in the Karnataka State of India. A sample size of 200 teaching faculty was selected on proportionate representative random sampling basis. Likert type 5-point scale has been used to convert the qualitative data into quantitative type. Factor analysis has been carried out to validate the instrument. Besides the averages, mean and standard deviation, t-test and chi-square test have been carried out to test the two hypotheses, which investigate the relationships applicable to HRDC. Through the empirical study results, missing HRD mechanisms have been identified based on which suggestions are made for the improvement of HRDC.

INTRODUCTION
Education and Training are the primary systems by which the trained human capital of a nation is increased and preserved. Higher education in general, and technical education in particular, has a direct bearing on the economy of a country.
