Aircraft (3rd Amendment) Rules, 2009

G.S.R.94(E).--In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Aircraft Act, 1934 (22 of 1934), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Aircraft Rules, 1937, namely:--

  1. (1) These rules may be called the Aircraft (3rd Amendment) Rules, 2009.

    (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  2. In the Aircraft Rules, 1937, in Schedule II, in Section 'A' for paragraph 6A, the following paragraph shall be substituted, namely:--

    6A. Language proficiency.--(a) An applicant for the following licences shall have the ability to speak and understand the English language used for radiotelephony communications to the level of proficiency specified by the Director General:--

    (i) Private Pilot's Licence (Aeroplanes);

    (ii) Private Pilot's Licence (Helicopters);

    (iii) Commercial Pilot's Licence (Aeroplanes);

    (iv) Commercial Pilot's Licence (Helicopters);

    (v) Airline Transport Pilot's Licence (Aeroplances);

    (vi) Airline Transport Pilot's Licence (Helicopters);

    (vii) Flight Engineer's Licence, and

    (viii) Flight Navigator's Licence.

    (b) The level of proficiency shall be evaluated in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Director General.

    (c) The licencing authority shall indicate the level of proficiency in the licence.
